SVG files (Scalable Vector Graphics) are vector graphics that essentially consist of mathematical descriptions of shapes and lines, along with their corresponding colors. The major advantage of vector graphics compared to pixel graphics is that they can be scaled (i.e., enlarged or reduced) without any loss of quality. The images always remain sharp. However, not all programs and platforms can display SVG graphics correctly. For easy sharing, JPG is often the better choice, even though SVG files are usually smaller. During conversion, the vector graphic is rasterized into a pixel image, i.e., converted into a pixel graphic. In this process, the "formulas" are translated into individual pixels. There is a special consideration when converting to JPG: since JPG does not support transparency, transparent areas (e.g., the background) are marked as white. When converting from SVG to PNG, transparency is possible and is preserved. The conversion from SVG to JPG takes place directly in the browser.
